Hello All,

I hope you enjoyed your weekend! There was so much going on in town between the BDW Holiday Craft Faire on Saturday and yesterday's Festival of Lights, it truly is a magical time of year.
​
As promised, I want to share a few of my favorite places from my Seattle trip. Uwajimaya is an amazing Asian market, with special focus on Japanese products. My family and I were able to get some delicious lunch from their food court area and then grab some poke, sushi, and meals to go for later. We went on a food tour of Pike Place Market. The company, Savor Food Tours, gets rave reviews from us. Our guide led us through the history and culture of the market, the vendors, and foundation that are all part of an inspirational community. We got to sample very delicious donuts, lentil and clam chowder soups, ginger beer, chocolate covered cherries, and a Greek cultured gelato--such an amazing variety!
If you visit the area, I also highly recommend taking the ferry to Bainbridge Island. The views are stunning, the ride comfortable, and the beauty of the parks is remarkable. We visited the Bainbridge Island Japanese American Exclusion Memorial and that was a thoughtful tribute to those who were the first JA evacuated to internment camps in 1942. "Nidoto Nai Yoni--Let it not happen again" is a particularly topical reminder.
I could go on, but I'll show some restraint. Needless to say, I had a fabulous visit and am inspired to create and build more here at the BLT.

Thursday's dinner this week is a new one--Shrimp and Grits!
Seasoned shrimp (with just a bit of spice) are sauteed with fresh mushrooms, bacon, and served over cheesy cornmeal grits. Serving this meal with some kale greens, this should taste like a bit of the South. Order early to secure your dinner. Add on clam chowder or a side salad to make your meal complete. Pick up from 4:00-5:30 on Thursday, please make sure to scroll to the correct date and desired pick up time when ordering online.
