Hello BLT Community!

I hope your Mother's Day festivities were enjoyable and filled with lots of family celebrations. It's a bittersweet time as my own mother has passed, but it was great to celebrate the other mother figures in my life. Speaking of my mother, I was privileged to acknowledge both her and my father today as part of the Ireicho Project. This historic book lists the names of over 125,000 people of Japanese ancestry who were unjustly removed from their homes and incarcerated during the panic of World War II.

To be able to see my parents' names in this document brings me a mixed bag of emotions. I miss them both terribly and am amazed at all they endured. My folks did not discuss this time much when I was growing up, but I saw how much they were proud Americans with a strong connection to their heritage.
